Meie Eefraim soovis saada reedeti nädalaraporteid, et end paremini meie elu ning tegemistega kursis hoida. Nii produtseerib iga nädala lõpus keegi meist ka kauni kirjatüki ning edastab Eefraimile moodsalt, e-posti teel. Seekord Ermese sulest ilmunud raport - nauditavat lugemist!



Week 4(29 March 01 April, 2010)

Week 4 Mission Statement
The volunteers worked in the field of health and to education. This week also included participation to interesting meeting and public events.


Daily activities
After weeks of trainings, introductions and meetings with Local Government (LG) representatives, this week the volunteers started to settle down in the environment of LG and involved themselves step by step to the local healthcare activities.

On Monday 29 March, the volunteers participated in the celebration of the birthday of the former governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubo, attended the prayer session in his honor and “The second Annual Bola Tinubo Colloquium ‘THIS HOUSE MUST STAND’”.

More in detail, in the morning they visited the house of the governor with the chairman and a representative from the local government of Amuwo Odofin. The prayer session was very interesting as conducted in Arabic and featured reading passages from the Koran. Then the volunteers went to the Shell Hall Muson Center of Onikan in Lagos to attend the colloquium which had as its central theme: the rule of law. The special guest was Dr. Hernando de Soto, author of “The Mystery of Capital”. The debate was very interesting and the discussion continued throughout the afternoon. The volunteers were back at the hotel late in the evening because of the delay caused by the Lagos traffic.

On Tuesday 30 March, The volunteers have divided tasks: Veronika, Kaja. Ermes, Christopher and Katrina went to the clinic for the usual day of vaccination and daily activities while Fabrizio continued to work on a public health awareness video destined to the LG’s clinic. The morning activities were fairly quiet and Ermes took the time to get vaccinated against yellow fever. Christofer was very busy and his work was appreciated by doctors, Kaja and Veronika committed themselves to children’s health while Katrina began preparing a work plan for our future teaching activities.

On Wednesday 31 March, Volunteers have again divided the tasks: Ermes and Fabrizio continued to work on the video, Kaja and Veronika have been doing research on the health situation of the country and drafted a work plan with innovative proposals for the area of health, Kristofer and Katrina went to clinic for daily activities. In the afternoon the volunteers met with their project managers Udom to better discuss and eventually redefine the volunteers’ weekly tasks and discuss new proposals.

On Thursday 01 April, The volunteers went to the clinic to take part to an advocacy activitybut a sudden change in plans deleted the task. Kaja and Veronika stayed to undergo through some researches on the clinic’s formative activities and started organizing the printed material for some future activities. Kristofer and Katrina have visited a private school and met people who can help them in their work with schools, Fabrizio and Ermes dedicated themselves to the preparation of the video. In the afternoon the volunteers started preparing for the celebrations of Holy Week.
